Why are Double Perovskite Iodides so Rare?

چکیده

Following on the heels of remarkable lead halide perovskite optoelectronic materials, interest in lead-free perovskites has grown rapidly past decade. Double halides with general formula A2MIMIIIX6 (where A is a large monovalent cation site, MI univalent metal, MIII trivalent and X halide) represent one promising classes such these, iodides are particularly interesting since their band gaps expected to be similar those found iconic lead-containing phases, APbI3. However, successful synthesis A2MIMIIII6 appears have been elusive. In this work, we examine likelihood that double will form using combination Goldschmidt tolerance factor radius ratio metals, MIII, rationalize rarity terms these descriptors. Using model as formability criterion, predict possible existence more than 300 hitherto unknown organic inorganic cations site.

Why are epididymal tumours so rare?

Epididymal tumour incidence is at most 0.03% of all male cancers. It is an enigma why the human epididymis does not often succumb to cancer, when it expresses markers of stem and cancer cells, and constitutively expresses oncogenes, pro-proliferative and pro-angiogenic factors that allow tumour cells to escape immunosurveillance in cancer-prone tissues. The privileged position of the human epid...

Why are clicks so exclusive ?

Clicks occur abundantly in the languages of southern Africa, but are not found anywhere else. This is unexpected since the clicks seem to be both auditorily salient and easy to produce. This paper suggests that the reason for the areal skewness of clicks lies in the African phonetictypological environment rather than in production or perception constraints. In particular, clicks are limited to ...

Molecular rectification: why is it so rare?

Although conductance measurements of single molecule and few molecules junctions are currently being reported, there is a striking rarity of molecular rectification in these reports. Molecular rectification can be defined as the absence of inversion symmetry, IðV Þ 1⁄4 Ið V Þ, where I and V are the measured current and applied voltage. In molecular junctions of the form metal/molecule/metal, th...

Why are so many trees hollow?

In many living trees, much of the interior of the trunk can be rotten or even hollowed out. Previously, this has been suggested to be adaptive, with microbial or animal consumption of interior wood producing a rain of nutrients to the soil beneath the tree that allows recycling of those nutrients into new growth via the trees roots. Here I propose an alternative (non-exclusive) explanation: suc...
